ISAPP Summer Institute 2009 at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology


The Summer Institute offers participation in research groups like:

Auger, ultra high energy
cosmic rays

CMS, detector for the

dark matter search

KASCADE-Grande, very high energy cosmic rays

KATRIN, direct neutrino mass measurement

LOPES, radio detection of cosmic rays


Grid Computing, computing for HEP data analysis

The different experiments and research fields will be introduced in dedicated lectures given usually in the morning.

Practical participation in the respective research groups is organized for small groups of one to three students. The detailed program can be found here. Most of the activities in the different laboratories will take place in the afternoon.

Each student will get the opportunity to give a short presentation on her/his topic of research.

There will be excursions to the synchrotron light source ANKA, to the KATRIN experiment and to the former research reactor FR2 on the KIT-campus North and to the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg.
